C2y will standardize countof as the macro that Emacs uses the name
ARRAYELTS for. Switch to the standard name, which is supported
by GCC 16+, by Clang 21, and by the Gnulib stdcountof-h module already
in use for compilers that do not support countof.
Also, use countof in a few places where we missed using ARRAYELTS.
* admin/coccinelle/arrayelts.cocci: Suggest countof, not ARRAYELTS.
* admin/merge-gnulib (GNULIB_MODULES): Add stdcountof-h,
as it is now a direct rather than an indirect dependency.
* exec/trace.c, src/lisp.h, src/sfnt.c: Include <stdcountof.h>.
(ARRAYELTS): Remove. All uses replaced by countof.
* lib-src/ebrowse.c, lib-src/etags.c, lib-src/make-docfile.c:

Earlier versions of Emacs were limited to at most 32 subprocesses or
network connections on Windows due to the 64-object limit imposed by
WaitForMultipleObjects. To overcome this, a simple waiting thread
pool is implemented, allowing Emacs to efficiently wait on up to
2048 objects.
Each thread in the pool can wait on up to 63 objects, and a total of
32 threads are used, together with the main thread, to expand the
waiting capability. This enables Emacs to support approximately 1024
subprocesses, which is comparable to the 'pty' method on GNU/Linux
when using the default FD_SETSIZE of 1024.
To minimize overhead, the threads remain active instead of being
frequently created and destroyed, reducing unnecessary system
resource consumption. Idle threads can be terminated after a
period of inactivity to free up memory.

A new Windows-specific function for validating process ID
is introduced that does TRT with possibly negative PID
values returned by 'getpid' on Windows 9X and also with
values larger than INT_MAX, since PID on Windows is
actually an unsigned 32-bit value.

them, though this usage is obsolescent.
