* src/charset.c (load_charset_map_from_file)
(load_charset_map_from_vector, Fdefine_charset_internal):
Rewrite memset to xzalloc or initializers.
|
|
* src/charset.c (Fdefine_charset_internal):
Prefer int to size_t for a variable that has only int values.
|
|
|
|
|
|
* src/charset.c (Fmap_charset_chars, Fdefine_charset_internal)
(Ffind_charset_region, Ffind_charset_string, Fchar_charset):
* src/chartab.c (UNIPROP_COMPRESSED_FORM_P): Fix commentary and doc
strings.

The fields of the new struct are what the global variables
charset_table, charset_table_size, charset_table_used, and
charset_attributes_table used to be. The struct should make it clearer
that those fields must be kept in sync.
* src/charset.h (struct charset_table): New struct.
(charset_attributes_getter): Adjust accordingly.
* src/charset.c (charset_table): Change type to struct charset_table.
(charset_table_size, charset_table_used, charset_attributes_table):
Moved to the struct.
(Fdefine_charset_internal, Ffind_charset_region, Ffind_charset_string)
(shrink_charset_table, syms_of_charset): Adjust to struct charset_table.
* src/pdumper.c (dump_charset, dump_charset_table): Adjust to struct
charset_table.
|
|
Determining the best size for a static array seems difficult; so
allocate it dynamically.
* src/charset.c (CHARSET_TABLE_INIT_SIZE): New constant.
(syms_of_charset): Malloc charset_table here.
(charset_table_init): Removed.
(shrink_charset_table): New function.
(Fclear_charset_maps): Call it.
* src/charset.h (charset_table_init): Removed.
(charset_attributes_getter): Add an assertion.
* src/pdumper.c (dump_charset_table): Assert that charset_table_size ==
charset_table_used.
|
|
This simplifies the GC code, as this was the only field in the charset
struct that referenced the GC heap. Without it, we no longer need to
trace the charset_table.
* src/charset.h (struct charset.attributes): Removed.
(charset_attributes_getter): New helper.
(CHARSET_ATTRIBUTES): Use it.
* src/charset.c (charset_attributes_table): New.
(Fdefine_charset_internal): Place attrs in charset_attributes_table.
(syms_of_charset): Initialize charset_attributes_table.
(mark_charset): Deleted.
* src/pdumper.c (dump_charset): Skip attributes field.
* src/lisp.h (mark_charset): Deleted.
* src/alloc.c (garbage_collect): mark_charset no longer needed.

Work around a bug in GnuTLS 3.7.11 and earlier: when built
statically, its mistakenly exports symbols hash_lookup and
hash_string, which collide with Emacs symbols of the same name,
preventing temacs from linking statically. Problem reported by
Greg A. Woods (Bug#77476).
Because GnuTLS never uses hash_lookup or hash_string this issue
ordinarily doesn’t seem to prevent temacs from linking to GnuTLS
on GNU/Linux, as it’s linked dynamically and the dynamic linker
never needs to resolve references to either symbol. However, I
suppose a clash or bug could occur even with dynamic linking if
Emacs later loads a module that uses either symbol.
Although GnuTLS should be fixed, Emacs should link statically to
current and older GnuTLS versions in the meantime, and it should
avoid potential problems with dynamic linking. Renaming the two
clashing names is an easy way to do this. For consistency with
the new name for hash_lookup, also rename hash_lookup_with_hash
and hash_lookup_get_hash.
* src/fns.c (hash_find_with_hash): Rename from hash_lookup_with_hash.
(hash_find): Rename from hash_lookup.
(hash_find_get_hash): Rename from hash_lookup_get_hash.
(hash_char_array): Rename from hash_string.
All uses changed.

Since the introduction of the 'calln' macro, the 'call1', 'call2', ...,
'call8' macros are just aliases for the former. This is slightly
misleading and potentially unhelpful. The number of arguments N can
also easily go out-of-synch with the used alias callN. There is no
reason not to replace these aliases with using 'calln' directly.
To reduce the risk for mistakes, the tool Coccinelle was used to make
these changes. See <https://coccinelle.gitlabpages.inria.fr/website/>.

`struct composition` kept an index into the internal `key_and_value` array

hash-tables are handled. Replace it with a reference to the
key stored at that location in the hash-table, which saves us an
indirection while at it.

Be more systematic about putting space before paren in calls,
and in avoiding unnecessary parentheses in macros.
This was partly inspired by my wading through gcc -E output
while debugging something else, and seeing too many parens.
This patch does not change the generated .o files on my platform.
|
|
This improves performance in several ways. Separate functions are
used depending on whether the caller has a hash value computed or not.
* src/fns.c (hash_lookup_with_hash, hash_lookup_get_hash): New.
(hash_lookup): Remove hash return argument.
All callers adapted.
hash_lookup_with_hash hash_hash_t arg

This improves typing, saves pointless tagging and untagging, and
prepares for further changes. The new typedef hash_hash_t is an alias
for EMACS_UINT, and hash values are still limited to the fixnum range.
We now use hash_unused instead of Qnil to mark unused entries.
* src/lisp.h (hash_hash_t): New typedef for EMACS_UINT.
(hash_unused): New constant.
(struct hash_table_test): `hashfn` now returns
hash_hash_t. All callers and implementations changed.
(struct Lisp_Hash_Table): Retype hash vector to an array of
hash_hash_t. All code using it changed accordingly.
(HASH_HASH, hash_from_key):
* src/fns.c (set_hash_index_slot, hash_index_index)
(hash_lookup_with_hash, hash_lookup_get_hash, hash_put):
(hash_lookup, hash_put): Retype hash value arguments
and return values. All callers adapted.

The specpdl_ref type is just an alias for ptrdiff_t; the compiled code

improvement.

Fvector is less error-prone than make_uninit_vector, as it
avoids the possibility of a GC crash due to an uninitialized
vector. So prefer Fvector to make_uninit_vector when this is
easy (and when there's no significant performance difference).
Inspired by a suggestion by Pip Cet in:

The main new thing here is that C code can now say
‘list (a, b, c, d, e, f)’ instead of
‘listn (CONSTYPE_HEAP, 6, a, b, c, d, e, f)’,
thus relieving callers of the responsibility of counting
arguments (plus, the code feels more like Lisp). The old
list1 ... list5 functions remain, as they’re probably a bit
faster for small lists.

* src/charset.c (charset_table_size):
* src/pdumper.c (dump_private):
* src/sysdep.c (init_sigsegv):
* src/window.c (old_selected_window):
Now static.
* src/charset.c (charset_table_size):
Now int, since the value always fits in int.
* src/gtkutil.c (xg_gtk_initialized): Now present only if
HAVE_XWIDGETS, to make it clearer that this is an xwidgets
hack. All uses changed.
* src/lread.c (ndefsubr): Remove; unused.
* src/pdumper.h: Use usual GNU indenting style for functions,
since my static-vs-extern checking hack relies on it.
(dump_public): Always declare; simpler and doesn’t hurt.
(pdumper_handle_page_fault): Remove unused decl.
